Reliance Jio recently announced Jio Phone is all set to launch on 24th August 2017. We at Suggest Phone have compiled a list of things you should know about the Phone before you buy one.
The phone comes with a 2.4 Inch display which has a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. It supports SD card, FM Radio, headphone jack but has no front camera.
1. Will the Jio Phone Support Whatsapp?
This could be a huge disappointment for many because as per the reports, Whatsapp might not be supported on the Jio feature phone initially, Reliance would look to promote their own chat platform "Jio Chat".
2. Which all social media applications would it support?
The Jio Phone is expected to have Facebook and Youtube applications as such application consume a lot of data and would be beneficial for the company.
3. Which Processor powers this phone?
Jio is sourcing processors from 2 companies for the Jio Phone: Qualcomm and Spreadtrum.
Qualcomm would be providing their latest Snapdragon 205 which is made for feature 4G phones. Details about Spreadtrum processor are yet to be disclosed. Tweets from the companies have confirmed their partnership with Reliance Jio.
4. Are there any terms and conditions associated with the refundable security of Rs 1500?
You need to pay Rs. 1500 only when the pre-booking opens on 24th August, but this amount is a security amount and is 100% refundable given you abide by the following terms and conditions.
i) Jio phone needs to be used for at least three years to be eligible for 100% refund of security.
ii) The user needs to recharge the phone at least once every 90 days. The minimum monthly plan starts at Rs. 153.
If the user fails to follow any of the above conditions, no security would be refunded on return of Jio Phone. No Other cost apart from Rs 1500 is to be paid for this Jio Feature Phone.
5. What are the other prominent features of Jio Phone?
Mirroring is going to be a very useful feature of Jio Phone. This feature allows the phone to mirror the content on your Television. It will work with all TV sets(New LED type TVs and Old CRT TVs as well. To use this user need to subscribe to a monthly recharge of around Rs 300.
6) Is 500 MB/day data limit sufficient for the Jio Phone?
The phone comes with a daily limit of 500MB 4G data usage with Rs 153 plan. The limit would be very much sufficient for this phone because of the low resolution and small size of the screen.
7) What about hotspot and WiFi? Will it support any?
The Jio Phone would not support hotspot and hence you would not be able to share the internet from one phone.
But the phone has WiFi support and can be used if you somehow exhaust your daily data limit.
