Redmi Note 5 Pro has 2 variants - 4GB-64 GB and 6GB-64GB and Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 has been launched in 2 variants: 3GB-32GB and 4GB-64GB. Asus will launch a 6GB-64GB variant after few weeks. Not everyone needs 4GB of RAM or 64GB of storage. Some users have light usage and they are fine with 3GB-32GB variants so Asus has done a good job here by providing plenty of options to users.
While most of the things are same in both of these devices, software is where they are miles apart. Redmi Note 5 Pro runs on MIUI 9 which is a heavily customized skin based on Android Nougat. Asus Zenfone Max Pro, on the other hand, comes with stock Android with very little bloatware. Asus has also promised to provide next 2 big Android updates: Android P and Q. So, Zenfone Max Pro is obviously a better option when it comes to software. Pure Android with promised updates is something that every user would love. Asus is a winner here.

So overall, the camera performance of Redmi Note 5 Pro is a bit better than Asus Zenfone Max Pro. Asus will launch a 6GB RAM variant with upgraded cameras as well so maybe that phone will be able to beat Redmi Note 5 Pro in camera performance.
7. Battery and Charging
Redmi Note 5 Pro and Asus Zenfone Max Pro do not only carry powerful chipsets and dual cameras, they also have massive batteries as well. Redmi Note 5 Pro has a 4000 mAh battery which will last for 2 days on a single charge. Asus Zenfone Max Pro has an even better 5000 mAh battery which lasts for 2-3 days.
For charging, both phones come with a 10W charger which is a bit disappointing. We would have loved a fast charger included in the box. The charging time for Redmi Note 5 Pro is around 2 hours and 15 minutes. While the Asus Zenfone Max Pro takes around 2 hours 45 minutes to completely charge the device.
Both phones have decent charging times and excellent battery backup so this round is a tie as well.
8. Multitasking and Gaming
Both phones have Snapdragon 636 chipset which packs a lot of power and handles every task really well. If you use a lot of apps or you play a lot of games. Both phones will handle it with ease. Asus Zenfone Max Pro is a bit smoother while switching between apps because of the pure Android. The overall performance of both phones is impressive. If you are a heavy user then go for the 4GB or 6GB RAM version of Zenfone Max Pro as extra RAM will always help in multitasking.
Redmi Note 5 Pro is priced at 13999 for the 4GB-64GB variant and 16999 for the 6GB-64GB variant. Asus Zenfone has priced the 3GB-32GB variant at 10999 only and the 4GB-64GB will retail at 12999. The 6GB-64GB variant which will launch later will be priced at 14999 only. So, overall you have to pay Rs. 1000 less for 4GB variant and 2000 less for 6GB variant. It is very surprising and amazing to see a brand providing better value for money than Redmi. Asus is a clear winner in pricing.
