Redmi 5 vs Lenovo K8 Plus Comparison of Specs Features and Pros Cons
Updated on 2017-12-10 by Shivam Setia
Lenovo K8 plus was one of the first budget smartphones with a dual rear camera, while Redmi 5 is one of the first budget smartphones to have a bezel-less display.
Let's take a look at Redmi 5 vs Lenovo K8 Plus complete detailed comparison of features, pros cons and Specs.
1. Design & Display
Redmi 5 comes with a 5.7-inch HD+ bezel-less display(18:9 aspect ratio) with 720p resolution while the Lenovo K8 Plus holds a 5.2 inch Full HD display with 1080p resolution. Redmi 5 looks better but the quality of the display is certainly better in Lenovo K8 Plus.
The build of both the phones is solid and good given the budget price range.
2. SOC/Processor Comparison
Redmi 5 is powered by Qualcomm 625 while Lenovo K8 Plus is powered by MediaTek Helios P25. Though the Helios P25 has higher Antutu Benchmark score of approx 63000 compared to Antutu Score of 55000 on Redmi 5, the performance is expected to be similar as P25 is not the most efficient processor around.
3. RAM & Storage Comparison
Lenovo K8 Plus comes in a single variant of 3GB of RAM with 32GB of internal memory, while the Redmi 5 comes in 2 variants, 2GB/16GB and 3GB/32GB. We would suggest choosing 3GB/32GB variant in both the smartphones.
K8 Plus comes with dedicated MicroSD slot to expand the storage while keeping a true dual sim usage feasible.
4. Software Comparison
Lenovo K8 Plus runs on stock Android 7.1 (Nougat) and is super smooth with no bloatware and clearly wins over MIUI 9 running on the Redmi 5. MIUI is not the efficient UI around, the custom skin and bloatware affects the performance.
Lenovo K8 Plus comes with dual rear camera of 13MP and 5MP which help to create a bokeh effect and blur the background, while Redmi 5 only features a single rear camera of 12MP and does not have the possibility to create the bokeh effect.
The front camera in both the phones has a flash, K8 Plus has an 8MP sensor and Redmi 5 has a 5MP sensor, the selfie is good on both the phones.
Both the camera struggle a bit in the low light but Lenovo K8 plus wins because of the portrait mode, rest altogether quality remains similar.
6. Battery & Charging Comparison
Lenovo K8 Plus packs a 4000mAH battery compared to 3300mAH battery on the Redmi 5. K8 Plus with stock android delivers better battery backup. There is no fast charging available on either of the phone and take about 2-2.5 hours for a full charge.
