Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 5A with a tagline of DeshKaSmartphone. The logic behind the tagline is the price of the device. Redmi 5A 2GB 16GB variant is priced at just Rs. 4999. Redmi 4A came our earlier this year at Rs. 5999. 

The Redmi 4A and Redmi 5A are very similar devices. The design is similar. Both are made of plastic but are coated to make it look like metal. The build quality is good and the phone is comfortable to hold. 

Both devices have same Snapdragon 425 chipset which is good for basic usage. Both phones also come with a 3GB 32GB variant priced at Rs. 6999. We recommend going for higher variant as extra RAM will be useful in multi-tasking. 

The only major change we see in Redmi 5A and Redmi 4A is the addition of a dedicated MicroSD slot which can be used to increase the storage by up to 128GB.
