Brief Review:

Samsung Galaxy A6 plus is the higher variant launched along with the Samsung Galaxy A6 in May 2018. As always the build quality is amazing, with not the top notch but a decent camera and a low value for Money score. Let us talk about each of the features of Samsung Galaxy A6 Plus.

Samsung Galaxy A6+ is slightly bigger than the Galaxy A6 with a 6-inch Super AMOLED Panel with a Full HD resolution of 1080 x 2220 pixels. The display comes from the line of famous Samsung ‘Infinity Displays’ so its tall at an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. This makes up the pixel density to be ~411PPI which is quite better than Samsung Galaxy A6’s ~292PPI. This difference is well seen in real life as well, where we find the A6+ having a more bright, punchy and crispier display with better contrast levels. So, this sets it out straight - Samsung Galaxy A6+ doesn’t only have a bigger screen but a better screen than Galaxy A6. There are some bezels up top and bottom as well. There’s is no notch, and the top houses an array of sensors, earpiece, front camera and a soft LED flash for selfies in low-light.

On the rear, the device is again identical to Galaxy A6 with premium metal design and quite visible antenna bands in a rounded pattern. The striking difference comes in the camera housing, where Samsung Galaxy A6+ has a dual camera set up against one on the Galaxy A6. The fingerprint sensor sits right below the cameras and again, we don’t like the position as It often leads to fingers on camera and is quite difficult to reach as well. The device is quite gorgeous and quite slippery as It comes sleek at 7.9mm thickness and weighs over 190 grams, It definitely gets tough to grip this one tight for longer durations. In all, we love the design and build quality of Samsung Galaxy A6+, Its an absolutely beautiful device with some amazing build quality with zero compromises.

Samsung Galaxy A6+ is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450. Yes, the same Snapdragon 450 found in Xiaomi Redmi 5, the budget champion. We are quite shocked with Samsung’s choices here, being a mid-ranger the least we expected is a Snapdragon 600 series SoC but the situation is even worse here. Ergo, the performance is like a budget smartphone and multitasking is quite not what we would expect with lags and hangs as the number of apps get more. On the Antutu Benchmark, the Samsung Galaxy A6+ scores around 57000 which is quite low for a performance index of a mid-range smartphone.

Adreno 506 serves as GPU and It works fine with most games but we did observe some stutter and frame drops in normal mode in some heavy games like Asphalt 8. All of this is backed by 4GB of RAM, which is great but makes quite a weird combination with Snapdragon 450.  The result is, that the smartphone is able to keep more apps in memory and hence switching is a bit faster. There is an option for expandable storage up to 256GB with a dedicated MicroSD card besides the 64GB of onboard storage. Everyday tasks are smooth and the UI is responsive, If you aren’t much of a heavy user, the smartphone performance isn’t gonna concern you a lot, but in comparison with other mid-rangers like the Nokia 7 Plus or even some lesser ones like Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, Samsung Galaxy A6+ eats dust.

The camera is perhaps the best thing about Samsung Galaxy A6, and it doesn’t get much different here with a single sensor now being replaced by dual sensors with the primary sensor being 16 MP (f/1.7) and secondary being 5 MP (f/1.9) with LED flash. The presence of two sensors makes Galaxy A6+ portrait mode capable. The camera performs the best at the price with best colour accuracy and dynamic range. The sensor taps on a lot of details but exposure gets misplaced at times which can be corrected with a tap to focus. There is some noise in low-light shots but they are still admirable. Moreover, the A6+ can intelligently detect objects or scenes being shot, and optimise camera settings accordingly, to get the ‘best’ shot.  We like the camera on A6+ in all, it is probably the best camera in the range right now with some micro issues, that you can look over like the colour temperature and some absurd bokeh shots at times.

The front camera is brighter with a 24 MP (f/1.9) coupled with a LED flash, and the selfies are just stunning. The front flash accompanies you through dark times and It never let us down, It gets super bright making it virtually impossible to distinguish selfies taken in daylight to ones taken at night. The big sensor keeps all the details, intact with some reasonable noise. Samsung Galaxy A6+ as a camera is quite excelling

On the software side, Android Oreo 8.0 is the in charge, with Samsung Experience 9.0 skin on top. We see a ton of redundant apps from Samsung and Google for the same thing, and now some of the apps by Microsoft have also laid permanent claim to the device. We can’t let go of the word, ‘bloated’ here. The best you can do is put all the apps in a folder, forget about it and smile. Nonetheless, we felt no hiccups while tinkering around and playing with Samsung Experience, It is still responsive and fluid like before.

There is a Non-Removable, Li-Ion 3500 mAh battery at play here, which lasts for a day at best. Samsung has had a rough time in the past with batteries so we don’t really blame them for playing safe but compared to other smartphones with the same amount of battery, Galaxy A6+ tend to last less, maybe this can be attributed to software or the general chemistry of Samsung batteries is different. A MicroUSB 2.0 port sits at the bottom for charging, yeah, no USB-C here, additionally, there is no fast charging.

The speaker on the A6+ is identical to one on the A6, so there is not much to compare here in sound quality as well. The speaker is reasonably loud but has a bit shrill in Its signature. There is a dedicated microphone for active noise cancellation during calls, which we found out to be pretty effective during our testing. The sound output via headphones is a whole different story with Dolby Atmos. The sound quality, staging and clarity are just as we’d expect from a Dolby Atmos capable device and we are quite delighted. Samsung hasn’t mentioned any IP rating for the device, so we assume none and advise you to keep It way far from liquids and dust. The panel is an OLED panel, has Samsung’s always-on features where you don’t have to wake the smartphone to see time, notifications and other basic stuff. It makes life somewhat easy.

Brief Review:

Vivo X21 is the latest entrant in the smartphone world launched in last week in May 2018 and was first seen in the CES 2018. Vivo X21, which is more or less Vivo V9 but with this new technological marvel called in-display fingerprint sensor. We took out Vivo V21 for a spin and here are our findings.

Let us talk about the design and build quality. The smartphone packs a glass back with curved edges making it a good grip. It is not a refreshing new design and we are not complaining. The aluminium frame with glass backs melds into each other quite nicely. The device is just 7.5mm thick and this makes It quite sleek without all the flashiness. On the front, there is a tall 19:9 AMOLED Display which happens to be quite a giant as well being 6.28 inches in size. With a Full HD Plus resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels and pixel density of 402PPI, this display is not the best one we’ve seen but it certainly is good enough for the mid-segment where this device is fighting. It has vibrant colours and solid brightness levels.

Vivo X21 inherits Its design from V9, ergo the notch. Like it or not, It is the new cool. The only comfort is that It is quite smaller than iPhone X. The smartphone has lost all bezels and It couldn’t drop that fat chin. On the back, we find the familiar, vertically stacked dual sensor camera with a sharp rim around the camera housing, followed by a LED flash. There is a bold, shining Vivo branding at the centre with a ‘designed by Vivo’ written at the bottom end. Vivo has not compromised on placing 3.5mm jack but the existence of MicroUSB instead of USB-C feels odd.

Vivo X21 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660, which is a shining octa-core CPU with all new Kryo cores. The CPU consists of 4x2.2 GHz Kryo 260 & 4x1.8 GHz Kryo 260 and this is not flagship grade but is still serious power. Adreno 512 is also onboard as GPU coupled with plush 6GB of RAM. There were no performance issues in our testing, you can’t tell difference in the performance compared to Snapdragon 835 until It gets too extreme, which is really appreciated. We pushed the device with multiple heavyweight apps and games running all at once and it took it all with grace, thanks in part to the giant 6GB RAM. Multitasking is enjoyable and app switching is really smooth.

The performance of the device is right on point from the most casual of apps to the most demanding ones, it can take it all and more. We particularly enjoyed gaming on this device, Adreno 512 is just crazy fast and the big 6.3-inch FHD+ panel augments the experience. It would have been the best performer in the range, hadn’t It been for OnePlus devices. Overall, we are quite pleased with the performance, it is super smooth and packs a glaring punch when It is required. The smartphone comes with 128GB of onboard storage which is already a high point, yet is expandable via MicroSD. On benchmarking, Vivo X21 scored a sizeable 141235 on AnTuTu and we got scores of 1571, 5779 on GeekBench single core and multi-core tests.

Let us talk about the camera now, Vivo X21 is not under-gunned when It comes to cameras as It has a dual sensor setup with the primary shooter being a 12 MP (f/1.8, 1/2.5", 1.4µm, Dual Pixel PDAF) and the second one being a 5 MP (f/2.4) with LED flash. The camera app looks quite like the one on iOS. The inspiration is all over the smartphone experience. In general, the camera performance is impressive with good lighting and it is not top of the table but it is kind of good. As the lighting gets a bit low, the noise and grains increase resulting in mediocre shots. The second sensor means portrait effects and the smartphone does is quite well, It is not the finest and most realistic ones we have seen but edge detection and separation are on point most of the times. On the front camera, we have a 12MP, f/2.0 sensor which does take decent shots with a good amount of detail but again struggles as the lights go down. It gets the job done most of the times. The front sensor also has portrait effects though they are software based and they are again not the best but do produce decent selfies otherwise. The image processing needs a bit of refinement as the photos get excessively sharpened sometimes.

It goes without saying that Vivo has done a good job with amazing hardware into X21 but the same can’t be said for software. The software has been Vivo’s let down for quite many smartphone models and X21 is just the latest in line. Vivo X21 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with Vivo’s custom skin FunTouch OS 4.0. Again, as everything else FunTouch OS goes beyond the word ‘inspiration’ to rip off elements from iOS. The solace comes from the fact that we can install Nova launcher and get around the true-android way in style. There are a host of minor nagging issues here and there in the skin which sums up resulting in quite a struggling experience. Vivo can love iOS and Apple all they want but they need to refine FunTouch in greater ways If they want their software to not spoil the drive of the impressive hardware they ship.

The battery on Vivo X21 is a non-removable 3200mAh one which is again not a delighting news considering the giant 6.3-inch display this battery has to power. On normal use, It would last through the day but once you start to crank it up, get your charger ready by the end of the day or even before. Talking of charging, there is fast charging thanks to Qualcomm’s QuickCharge which makes the smartphone charge to full in just 110 minutes. There is no USB-C here, which feels kind of off in the price range but we have no complaints with the MicroUSB port on the smartphone.

Let us talk about something Vivo has been flaunting a lot and is actually the major innovative medal for this smartphone - The In-display fingerprint scanner. While you take this smartphone in hand you notice that there is no fingerprint sensor at the back or front, so where is It? Vivo has been the first smartphone manufacturer to get It hands on the in-display fingerprint scanner. It is not that bad, It works fine in most cases but It is still not up to the responsiveness and fluidity. It is not all over the screen so you have to put your fingers on a certain spot for It to work. Its fast but is still a split second slower than other contemporary fingerprint scanners like the one on Pixel 2 or OnePlus 6. It is a good add-on and we believe a lot of smartphones are going to have it in future, alongside face unlock which is also there on the smartphone which is a tad faster and feels more natural.

The sound levels are pretty decent and balanced, the speaker is not the loudest but It certainly has enough. Its a single downward firing speaker like most smartphones. Vivo X21 also has an active noise cancellation with dedicated mic, so the in-call noise is reduced and It works fine. Vivo X21 does not come with any IP rating so you need to keep your phone safe from water and dust or any other damage.

The smartphone is an overall complete package but slightly overpriced and faces competition from the top-notch OnePlus 6 and Honor 10.

Brief Review:

Honor 10 from Huawei comes at a time of OnePlus 6 launch and is poised to give a good competition to the same. While the OnePlus 6 remains Amazon exclusive, the Honor 10 is being sold exclusively via Flipkart. Coming to the display part, this smartphone has a 5.84 Fullview Full HD Plus display with an aspect ratio of 19:9 and has a notch design. The colour and clarity on this Honor 10 display is absolutely amazing and is one of the finest seen till date. You would have a good experience watching videos or viewing your photos.

On the design side, Honor 10 has a glass body design with an aluminium frame that looks very premium. The back of the phone gives different colour tint when seen from different angles and has a 2.5 glass protection. Honor claims that it has stacked more than 15 layers of glass over each other to achieve it. The back has an Honor logo and AI Camera embedded indicating that the camera has AI capabilities.

Much of the design and display, let us take about the performance now, Honor 10 is powered by Kirin 970 processor which scores a massive 213000 on the antutu benchmark. This score lies midway of the OnePlus 5T (powered by Snapdragon 835) and the recently launched OnePlus 6(powered by Snapdragon 845). The performance is simply amazing with no lag or any bug, crash or any issue faced with any level of multitasking.

Let us now discuss the most important part of Honor 10, the camera.  It is a camera-centric phone with AI capability on both the front and rear camera. The shutter speed is very fast and the camera clicks the images almost instantly. It auto-detects the object in the image and changes the colour and the sharpness on the basis of AI analysis. The rear camera is a dual camera with a 16MP monochrome sensor + 24MP RGB sensor and has all the features of portrait shots, AI shots, pro mode, moving pictures mode to click different types of the photograph and a lot more. The quality of the camera images is just amazing and you would love it all the time. The image clarity is perfect, the sharpness is perfect and is one of best camera phone for a budget of 30000. On the rear camera, there is a feature to adjust the aperture and before clicking the photos.

On the front camera of Honor 10, we have a 24 MP sensor with a 1.8 um pixel size which is higher than seen in any front camera and hence clicks beautiful low light images. The camera images are again stupendous and you will not have any reason to dislike it whatsoever in any condition. The front camera also has AI mode, pro mode and beautification mode. The AI can recognize more than 500 scenarios in 22 different categories in real time and also had the capability of subject recognize like building, sea, lake etc. You also have the option to enable/disable the AI at any time.

Honor 10 has a battery pack of 3400 mAh that keeps it alive for a minimum of a day with normal usage. Heavy usage can somewhat skid the backup timings to less than a day but the fast charger will be available for your rescue which can charge 50 percent in just 24 minutes while the full phone charging takes approx 90 minutes. There is a headphone jack, a Type C port and a speaker at the bottom. There is no IP rating so protect your phone from any damage by dust and water.

Honor 10 has an internal memory of 128GB, has dual sim usage but no SD card to expand the memory. Though we believe, 128 GB of internal storage would be very much sufficient for most of the users. For unlocking, Honor 10 has a face unlock feature and a fingerprint unlock. The fingerprint sensor is on the front which is embedded on the display itself, on the glass part at the bottom of the screen. Both the methods of unlocking are very accurate and are super quick. This smartphone runs on EMUI 8.1 which is a custom skin based on Android Oreo 8.1. The UI has some bloatware but is smooth is usage. There is no app drawer by default but can be added from settings.

There is one small shortcoming we observed was at the time of gaming. After 15-20 minutes of gaming, there was some heating observed but it could be due to some optimization and Honor can fix with a quick software update.

Overall, Honor 10 has stunning looks clubbed with great usage and camera performance. It is a good competitor to the OnePlus 6. Both Honor 10 and OnePlus 6 misses out on some points like wireless charging, Quad HD display, IP67 or IP68 certified for water and dust proof to be a flagship killer. But the pricing of 32999 and some launch discounts make it an attractive buy and a good value for money smartphone.

Brief Review:

From OnePlus One in 2014 to OnePlus 6 in 2018, OnePlus has come a long way. OnePlus One was a stunning device with flagship specs at less than half the price. Things have changed a lot from then. OnePlus used to have no advertising budget and the OnePlus One offered very high value for money. Now, OnePlus spends a good amount on advertising and the price is going up every year. The price has increased by around 70% in last 4 years but OnePlus has managed to build a following so people don't really seem to mind the price increase. Let's talk about the latest OnePlus 6 now.

OnePlus 6 is probably the most beautiful phone made by OnePlus. The mirror black variant has a glass back and looks gorgeous. It is a bit slippery though which is obvious because of the glass back. There's also a Midnight black color and White color as well. The display on the front is 6.28 inches AMOLED panel with 19:9 aspect ratio. OnePlus has jumped on to the notch trend. If you hate the notch then there's an option in settings to remove it. The resolution of the display is still Full HD 2280x1080p. The display is sharp, bright and vibrant and we have no complaints. The display is covered by Gorilla Glass 5 which will protect it from scratches.

The cameras on the OnePlus 6 are same as the ones on OnePlus 5T. The pixel size has improved though which means low light pictures would be better. There is a f/2.0 16MP selfie camera on the front with 1um pixel size. There is EIS on the front camera as well which means videos will be stable. The front camera performance is good with good amount of details and accurate color reproduction. You can also take bokeh/portrait mode selfies from the front camera. The front camera is also being used for face unlocking which seems to work well.

The camera setup on the back is 16MP+20MP dual setup with same f/1.7 aperture. OnePlus is not using any telephoto lens or wide angle lens as the second sensor. The secondary sensor is just there to increase the level of details and improve low light performance. The primary 16MP sensor has both OIS and EIS which means the stabilization will be excellent. You can also record 4K videos at 60FPS and slow-motion videos are also supported at 240FPS 1080p and 480FPS at 720p. The camera performance of the OnePlus 6 is excellent. The portrait mode shots have a decent amount of blur with good edge detection.

The hardware inside the OnePlus 6 is very powerful. You get the latest Snapdragon 845 chipset with 6 or 8GB of RAM and 64, 128 or 256 GB of storage depending on which variant you choose. The device is blazing fast. The apps open and close really quick. No matter what kind or how many apps or games you open and use, you won't notice any kind of lag on this device. The performance is visible in benchmark scores as well. The OnePlus 6 scores around 270000 on Antutu Benchmark which is one of the highest scores as of May 2018. On Geekbench, OnePlus 6 scores around 2500 on a single core and around 9000 on multi-core.

The battery inside the OnePlus 6 is 3300 mAh battery which is same as the one we saw on OnePlus 5T. The Snapdragon 845 is more efficient than the SD835 but the screen area on the 6 has increased so you will get almost same backup as 5T. On a single charge, it will last for a day with ease. If you are a heavy user then the Dash charging will come to your rescue. It can charge the device to 50% in just 30 minutes which is crazy quick.

The OnePlus 6 is running on Oxygen OS which is almost stock Android 8.1 with some useful features and no bloatware as all. Powerful hardware and stock android helps OnePlus 6 to deliver great experience.

For audio, there are speakers at the bottom and the 3.5mm audio jack is still there. It is great to see that OnePlus is not throwing the jack away for no reasons as all like some of the other brands did.

The OnePlus 6 comes in 3 variants. The 6GB RAM 64GB storage will cost you 34999, the 8GB 128GB will cost you 39999 and the 8GB 256GB variant will cost you 44999 in India.

Overall, OnePlus 6 is an impressive device. It is not a big upgrade over 5T. The display is larger, the camera is a bit better and the internal hardware is even more powerful. It is a great device but we won't call it a flagship killer because the display is still 1080p, still no wireless charging and still no IP rating. OnePlus needs to work on those areas to make it a true flagship killer.

Brief Review:

When we saw all new Nokia 6, we knew HMD isn’t gonna stop there and here we have one more - The all new Nokia 7 Plus. Announced in February 2018, Nokia 7 Plus aims to consolidate HMD’s ground in the under 25000 smartphone segment. As always, Nokia 7 Plus speaks volumes about Nokia’s commitment to design and build supremacy. It is built with 6000 series Aluminium and has copper edges looks amazing and feels amazingly solid in hand. As is with other Nokia smartphones, the pursuit of durability and sturdiness often lets ergonomics down.

Nokia 7 Plus has the all-new 18:9 aspect ratio with almost no side bezels but considerable ones on top and bottom. There’s a 6-inch, Full HD+1080 x 2160 pixels, IPS LCD display packing 403 PPI. There’s some protection with Gorilla Glass 3 on top. At the back, we have the same iconic vertical cutout for the camera and the flash with emblazoned Zeiss branding. Nokia 7 Plus has a dual camera setup, followed by a circular cutout for a fingerprint scanner.

Let’s talk about the performance of Nokia 7 Plus because the guys at HMD have been bailing on that previously. The Nokia 7 Plus has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 at its heart backed by Adreno 512 for gaming. There’s a big 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage, which makes the operation swift and smooth. The storage is expandable via MicroSD up to 256GB. In the numbers game, the superb performance of this smartphone is pretty evident - 141822 on AnTuTu 7 Benchmark and 1641, 5920 on GeekBench single and multi-core tests respectively. These numbers are certainly better than smartphones like Xiaomi’s Redmi 5 Pro and Oppo R11s.

Photography is one thing we expect a Nokia smartphone to be excellent at. There’s not one but dual camera setup on Nokia 7 Plus to give fodder to our excitement. There is a 12 MP sensor which is the main lens and 13 MP sensor being the telelens for optical zoom. The camera has gyro EIS(Electronic Image Stabilization), dual pixel phase detection autofocus, 2x optical zoom along with the very famous Carl Zeiss Optics. The camera is undoubtedly one of the best we have seen in the bracket, It takes great low-light shots with low levels of noise and great detail. On the front, there’s an equally impressive 16 MP (f/2.0, 1.0 µm) sensor which guarantees great looking selfies.  If you want a great camera on a smartphone and avoid spending fortunes on flagships - Nokia 7 Plus just might be for you.

The camera app of Nokia 7 Plus has options for HDR mode, Bothie mode that allows capturing pictures from both front and rear camera together, beautification mode, and a Pro mode. Like the Nokia 8, Nokia 7 Plus comes with OZO Audio technology that captures the right sounds and reduces the noise while capturing videos.

Nokia 7 Plus runs on Android 8.0 Oreo, under Google’s Android One Program - which means timely and hassle-free updates to pure stock Android on Nokia 7 Plus. HMD promises the Android P and Q updates to Nokia 7 Plus as they are out. We really admire the stock Android experience and mixed with timely updates - Nokia smartphones are really doing great with software.

There is a big 3800mAh battery, which is great for the smartphone to be up all day long and when you do need to charge - there’s USB-C based fast charging to sweeten the experience. Nokia 7 is built with all the major connectivity features including VoLTE and Bluetooth 5.0. The smartphone is very robust in build and would hardly take a dent and has an IP54 rating which is better than nothing for protection against water. Don’t know about IP ratings? Here’s an amazing-amazing article.

Nokia 7 Plus would cost ₹ 25,999 which is again Nokia-grade overpriced. There are some amazing alternatives but If you want to go with amazing build quality and some supercool Zeiss shots, Nokia 7 Plus won’t disappoint. You can pre-book the phone on April 20th and it will go on sale on April 30.

  • 4 GB RAM | 64 GB ROM | MicroSD upto 256 GB
  • 6.3 inch Full HD+ Display 1080p
  • Back Camera: 16MP + 5MP Dual Camera
  • Front Camera: 24MP
  • 3260mAh Battery
  • Dual Sim Device
  • Available in Gold, Black Colors

Best Price ₹22990

Brief Review:

Vivo V9 is the latest smartphone launched by Vivo on 23rd March 2018. Vivo has always been focused towards the selfie camera, but this time, in addition to the Selfie Camera, Vivo has come up with many new features and yeah the notch as well. In terms of design, V9 looks mesmerizingly beautiful with a bezel-less display of 6.3 Inches Full HD+ display having 1080 x 2280 resolution. It is a FullView Display panel with19:9 aspect ratio (90% Body to Screen Ratio) and a notch at the top similar to iPhone X, but is smaller and narrower.

Talking about the specifications, Vivo V9 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 which scores approximately 67000 on the Antutu Benchmark Score. It has 4GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 256 GB with a dedicated SD card slot and Dual sim usage.

In the camera department, Vivo V9 has a rear dual sensor of 16MP and 5MP which is placed vertically on the back. The Rear Camera produces perfect bokeh shots and uses AI techniques to improvise on the images. The dual camera has a wide angle lens so you can capture more in a single shot.  You can even shoot first and focus later, transforming every photo into an artistic masterpiece.

The front camera is a 24 MP sensor and reflects the inclination of Vivo towards Selfie, the selfie also supports depth/bokeh effect using Artifical Intelligence(AI) .V9 comes with AI Face Beauty that uses Machine Learning to find users' age, skin tone, sex and other features to "truly represent the person beauty". It also features a Selfie Lighting feature as was seen in iPhone X. So you will never be short of a great camera and selfie images anytime. It also has AR stickers for selfies which is just like Snapchat filters.

Vivo V9 also puts emphasis AI Smart Engine that is responsible to handle storage and app launching based on user behavior and AI Attention Scanning that lowers the volume of notification when the user is looking on the display. In terms of unlocking, it comes with a fingerprint sensor on the back and also supports face unlocking that again uses AI and Machine Learning (AI Face Access) that improves the accuracy of the Face Unlock Feature. Both the methods work smoothly and have very good accuracy.

On the Software front, Vivo V9 runs on Funtouch OS 4.0 which is a custom skin built over Android Oreo 8.1. The UI is clean and comes with many software features to ease your day to day activities. The battery of Vivo V9 is rated at 3290mAH and given the big screen size it lasts only for a day. Fast Charging is supported in Vivo V9 with the mobile getting fully charged in less than 1.5 hours  The battery is not a huge one to keep the check on the thickness and weight which just measure 7.9 mm and 150gm respectively. Vivo V9 is not water resistant or dust proof as it does not have any IP rating.

So if you are looking for a great camera setup and Fun of AI in your life, you can go for it, there is only one small disappointment that it runs 2 years old Snapdragon 626 which has been preceded by Snapdragon 630 and 636. Still, the overall performance is good and you won't face any lags while multi-tasking or gaming.

It is available both on Flipkart and Amazon at 22990 with different offers which can be checked on the links above. Overall, it is a great looking smartphone with excellent cameras. Go for it if your budget is around 25000.

Launch Offer on Flipkart: Flipkart is offering extra 2000 off on exchange. Plus, 5% instant discount (Rs. 1150) if you pay with HDFC cards. 0% Interest EMI also available.

7. Moto Z2 Force

Z2 Force

Features

  • 6 GB RAM | 64 GB ROM | MicroSD upto 2048 GB
  • 5.5 inch Quad HD Display 1440p
  • Back Camera: 12MP + 12MP Dual Camera
  • Front Camera: 5MP
  • 2730mAh Battery
  • Dual Sim Device
  • Available in Super Black Colors

Best Price ₹34999

Brief Review:

Moto Z2 Force is the next flagship from Motorola which is launched in India on 15th February 2018. This phone comes with various unique features and tries to place itself in an altogether different segment.

On the design front, this phone comes with a unibody metal design(7000 series of Aluminium) which makes it very strong and durable. The display in a Quad HD Display with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 Pixels which has vibrant colours and excellent viewing angles. The unique thing about the Z2 force is that the screen in shatterproof and comes with 4 layers of strength and 4 years of shatterproof warranty. (The scratches and other damage due to water are not covered.)

This sleek flagship smartphone is powered by Snapdragon 835 which was the best processor of 2017 and was seen in smartphones like OnePlus 5T. It captures a massive Antutu Score of 180800. This combined with 6GB of RAM makes it a multitasking beast and you won't ever face any lag whatsoever. It has an internal memory of 64GB which can be expanded up to 2TB with a hybrid sim(2 Sim or 1 Sim and 1 MicroSD).

The Moto Z2 Force comes with a Dual rear camera setup which combines a 12MP RGB Sensor and 12MP Monochrome sensor with a Dual-LED Dual-Tone Flash. The camera setup is used to provide a bokeh/depth effect. The images are sharp which look beautiful but sometimes the colors of the flowers or bright colors might look artificial. It supports various modes like selective focus, selective black and white which does the task well. The front camera has a 5 MP sensor and will not disappoint you with its performance.

In the daylight, the camera works very well and produces great saturation and colour reproduction to make the image look perfectly original. The Shutter speed is simply insane with almost no time between the touch and capture of the image. The camera though is not the best in the low light conditions with some scope of improvements as the images are not so sharp. In the video department, the phone supports up to 4K video Recording.

The software experience with the Moto Z2 Force is just brilliant as you get a very close Stock Android UI with very minimum bloatware. The UI is clean, smooth and easy to use. It runs on Latest Android Oreo and you would surely love the user experience the Motorola family brings. The fingerprint sensor is on the front and is very accurate and fast. the sensor can be alternatively used to turn the phone into sleep mode and wake up along with the support of swipe gestures.

This Z2 Force has a very sleek body and is super lightweight, due to which it takes a cut on the battery which has a capacity of 2750 mAh, just enough to support a day for normal usage. It comes with a fast charger of 15W and should be able to completely charge the phone in an hour. While the inbuilt battery is not big, the phone support Moto Mods, which are simply awesome, it takes your experience to a completely different level. The phone has a TurboPower Mod in the box which can be charged independently and support 6220mAh of battery life, so it comes to your rescue whenever you are running out of battery. Motorola also has other mods like Gaming Mod, Camera Mod which can be bought separately but you will love them if you are gaming or camera geek.

Z2 Force misses on the 3.5mm headphone jack and comes bundled with a 3.5mm jack to USB Type C Converter and a headphone. It is resistant to water droplet but is not resistance to water if it falls into the pool. It does not have any IP rating so be careful with Dust and water splash.

So Overall, this phone is a beast in terms of performance with some new features of mods not seen in any other smartphones yer but if you look to explore more smartphones in this price range, do check out OnePlus 5T and Honor View 10.

8. Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus

Galaxy A8 Plus

Features

  • 6 GB RAM | 64 GB ROM | MicroSD upto 256 GB
  • 6 inch Full HD Display 1080p
  • Back Camera: 16MP
  • Front Camera: 16MP + 8MP Dual Camera
  • 3500mAh Battery
  • Dual Sim Device
  • Available in Black, Gold Colors

Best Price ₹30990

Brief Review:

Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus is an Amazon Exclusive Product and another budget flagship smartphone that comes with latest features and upgrades. Samsung is finally following the Bezel Less (18:9 Aspect Ratio) trend and this smartphone supports a 6-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display. This phone comes with a unibody metal design which has very premium design and build quality, you would simply love it holding in the hand. The display also looks good with vibrant colours and good viewing angles. This Samsung Smartphone also supports an Always On Display which looks beautiful.

Let us now check the performance, camera and other important aspects of this phone.

Samsung Galaxy A8+ is powered by an Octa-core Exynos 7885 which has an Antutu Benchmark Score of 132496 which lacks way behind when compared to a similarly priced OnePlus 5T (Antutu 1,70,000) which has a 2017 best Processor(Qualcomm Snapdragon 835). In the speed test, obviously, OnePlus 5T wins by a margin but in the normal day to day usage you will not find any issues with the multitasking as the smartphone is powered by a 6GB of RAM (good work from Samsung for moving from 4GB to 6GB in mid-range flagship devices). It comes with an internal memory of 64GB with a dedicated SD card slot and dual sim feature so you can expand the memory and use it as a proper Dual Sim smartphone

Let us now look at the camera of this Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus, it comes with a single rear camera sensor of 16MP (f/1.7) and on the front, it has a dual sensor setup of 16MP and 8MP. So it looks like Samsung it focussing on the selfie-centric phone and ditching the trend of having a dual camera setup at the back.

The rear-facing camera performed really well in the outdoor lighting conditions with the images being sharp and good color reproduction but in the artificial lighting conditions, it struggles a lot of time and the images are blurry as the phone does not support Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) which is really saddening considering the price point this phone comes at. The other disappointing aspect of the rear camera of Galaxy A8 Plus is that it does not support 4K video, which should have been available at this price point.

While when it comes to a front camera, with the dual camera setup it is capable of bokeh effects and it comes with live focus where you can adjust the blur of the background, it has full view to capture images from the full 6-inch screen and the performance is also great, you certainly get better selfie than other phones in this price range.

On the software front, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus comes with Experience UI as was seen in Samsung Galaxy S8, Samsung Galaxy S8+ and Samsung Note 8. With 6GB of RAM, the performance would be smooth with this UI and you would find easy and swift usage. The gaming performance is also perfectly smooth with no heating at all observed in the heavy games.

On the back of the phone, there is a fingerprint sensor which is really fast and accurate and unlocks the phone in a snap but the position of the sensor is somewhat little above the comfort level of your hand. you would have to stretch a bit to get your finger reach to the sensor. This Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus also supports face unlocking, where it uses the front camera to unlock, it is fast but not secured enough as on the iPhone X which has a dedicated hardware for face unlocking.

Talking about the most important aspect of the Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus is the IP rating as this phone is IP68 Certified making it completely dust and water resistant giving you a peice of mind. Know more about IP68 here.

In the battery department, this phone supports a 3500mAH battery which easily lasts for over a day in normal usage. The battery life is certainly 20% higher than the OnePlus 5T as the processor in Samsung Galaxy A8+ is weaker than on the OnePlus 5T and hence lesser power requirements.

In the box, you get an in-ear style headset, Type C USB cable and a plastic case, and a fast charger which supports (9V 1.6A or 5V 2A). So the Galaxy A8 Plus supports fast charging and can charge a phone in less than 1.5 hours.

On the speaker side, it comes with a single speaker that is located near the power on-off button. The speaker performance is brilliant, it is stable and quite loud and feels perfect while gaming, watching videos etc.

We would recommend this only if you are looking for a Samsung Smartphone that has brilliant build quality, a fairly good selfie camera and IP68 protection. It is a big no if you are looking for a phone with a good rear camera, you can look at OnePlus 5T or Honor View 10, which have an equivalent build quality and design but are not IP68 Certified.

Also if you are looking for a Samsung flagship device, you can take a look at Samsung Galaxy S7 which is around 2 years old now but is a more practical device in all the departments and still has that shine of a premium phone with one the best camera and build quality. You can get it from Flipkart for around 25000 now (it was launched at Rs 60,000) and has a good value for money.

Brief Review:

Huawei has been quite the underdog in India, over the past few years but has been not slowed down on their approach by getting more affordable and value for money smartphones, the Indian population lives. Honor View 10 is another significant smartphone by Huawei following that approach. Huawei launched Honor View 10 in November 2017 and Its a real delight. It is going to be available in India as Amazon exclusive from 8th Jan 2018.

Honor View 10 features a metal unibody design, with a big 6-inch, Full HD+ display at 18:9 aspect ratio and resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels, summing up a pixel density of 403 PPI. The display is an LTPS LCD, truly gorgeous. With that 2017- style edge to edge display, the overall design of the smartphone is no less than stunning

Let’s talk about power, Honor View 10 packs a mean punch with HiSilicon Kirin 970 powering the device, It is not a Snapdragon and we miss it too, but Kirin 970 is another face of true power, Huawei’s homegrown Kirin 970 is a true flagship grade SoC with an eye towards AI as future. Kirin 970 is an octa-core SoC with 4x2.4 GHz Cortex-A73 and 4x1.8 GHz Cortex-A53 cores. For handling the graphics workloads, Kirin 970 packs an impressive Mali G72 MP 12 as GPU, and It exudes serious power.

The performance is flagship grade, as these are the same internals as Huawei’s current flagships. You won’t observe stutters or lags anywhere, Kirin 970 just kicks every load you can put on it out of the ground. In Antutu benchmarks, View 10 scores around 175000 which is similar to the score of Snapdragon 835. On Geekbench, you will see single core benchmark score of around 1900 and multi-core score of around 6700.

This performer is stacked with a giant 6GB of RAM to make multitasking, a cake walk. The Honor View 10 has 128GB of onboard storage, which is comfortable enough for most users. You do get the freedom of expansion via MicroSD up to 256GB. But it is a hybrid sim slot so you cannot use 2 sim cards with a MicroSD.

Honor View 10 looks robust on the cameras as well with a dual camera setup, the first sensor being a 16MP, f/1.8 and a second 20MP monochrome sensor, coupled with a single-tone LED flash. The camera has great low-light capabilities and depth sensing, all thanks to that second monochrome sensor.

Huawei is pushing hard on AI, even with smartphone photography as the image processing involves a lot of machine learning behind the scenes resulting in clearer, sharper and ultimately better. Much like Google’s efforts with Pixel 2, Huawei is using AI for better depth sensing and portrait shots. The colors are good, the depth effect is decent too.

While It's no closer to the likes of Pixel 2, It tops the camera quality from other offerings in the budget like the much loved OnePlus 5T. On the front, there’s a 13MP, f/2.0 sensor that also produces impressive results. The low-light performance isn’t top notch but good enough in most situations. The front camera isn't a dual camera setup but still, it can take nice portrait mode pictures.

Huawei tries to attract all the audience that loves software, with Honor View 10 being powered by Android 8.0 Oreo, out of the box. But that’s the only thing about software Huawei can boast about. The custom skin by Huawei, called EMUI is no closer to stock and is a lot of clutter and load. It is neither minimalistic nor zappy. Although, EMUI 8.0 is a big stride over the previous editions of Huawei’s custom ROM. Overall the software experience isn’t very pleasing and often feels like an obstruction to efficiency. If you are a fan of minimalism and stock Android, Honor View 10 isn’t going to delight you a lot.

The Honor View 10 packs a decent 3750mAH battery and is capable enough to pull you through the day, with heavy usage you might need a charger or a power bank after 5-6 hours. There’s is fast charging available which can charge your device from 0 to 58% in just 30 minutes.

If you are wondering whether there is an IP rating for Honor View 10 then you are going to be disappointed. The View 10 is not waterproof or dustproof. Plus, there is no wireless charging as well. Honor should have included these features if they want to compete with true flagship devices.

The Honor View 10 also sports a fingerprint sensor at the front, just where you like it, making a smartphone a bit bigger in comparison to the likes of OnePlus 5T. It also has a face unlock feature but is for namesake as of now, and seriously needs a software boost to be usable.

The Huawei Honor View 10 is priced at Rs. 29,999 and is set to go on sale January 8, 2018, exclusively on Amazon. At the price, Its a good competitor to OnePlus 5T and the Samsung A9. The device impresses with flagship-level performance and features at an aggressive pricing by Huawei.

Brief Review:

OnePlus after about 5 months of the launch of OnePlus 5 has launched the most anticipated smartphone ever, OnePlus 5T. The company has basically upgraded the OnePlus 5 making it suite the current market demand while keeping the price same as that of OnePlus 5.

OnePlus 5T comes with a 6-inch bezel-less display, the screen is a Samsung AMOLED panel with a 2.5D Corning Gorilla glass protection. The colours are vibrant and the screen is bright with a resolution 1080p and 401-pixel density. The hold and grip on OnPlus 5T in hand are smooth and the phone looks perfectly stunning, though it might take a few days for a new user to adjust on the 6-inch screen.

The processor in OnePlus 5T is an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, same as that in OnePlus 5 which is on the expected lines, as nothing exceeds Snapdragon 835 in the market right now. The Antutu benchmark score of One Plus 5T is around 1,70,000 indicating a very strong performance.

Coming to the Camera performance of OnePlus 5T, it comes with a dual camera rear sensor which is a combination of 16MP Main camera and 20MP Secondary camera. This in terms of number, looks same as that of OnePlus 5, but the 20MP sensor has been upgraded to have a f/1.7 aperture in a bid to improve the low lighting shots from the phone. The front camera of OnePlus 5T is a 16MP sensor, which is exactly the same as that of OnePlus 5. Overall, the OnePlus 5 had an exceptional camera performance in both front and rear camera, but with slight upgradation of the rear camera aperture, OnePlus 5T is also set to click excellent photos in the low lighting conditions.

Commenting on the Gaming performance of OnePlus 5T, it delivers a true flagship performance, with no heating or lag issues observed in our initial testing. With such strong processor and abundant RAM, this cannot go wrong and comes down to the efficiency of the phone, which OnePlus has been really good at.

OnePlus 5T as similar to OnePlus 5, comes in 2 variants. One with 6GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage priced at 32999, and the second with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage priced at 37999. As per the requirement of your internal memory, the user can choose the variant, while both 6GB and 8GB of RAM should be sufficient for any level of multitasking. Since the screen has been upgraded to a bezel-less display, there is no space on the front to fit the fingerprint sensor and has been moved to the back, it is both accurate and quick, no sluggishness was observed.

OnePlus 5T also comes with 'Face Unlocking', which uses the front camera to puts more than 100 facial spots, but this is not a secure method and is nowhere close to the face unlocking mechanism in iPhone X. This method of using face unlocking just with the use of front camera can be fooled using a picture and also with OnePlus 5T, it is not possible to use the Face Unlocking in the dark because of lack on additional hardware. Face Unlocking on OnePlus 5T  is convenient and fast but is not foolproof. Read about how FaceID works on Apple iPhone X.

The battery size of OnePlus 5T is 3300mAH, which can give a day backup with normal usage, with 6 inches of screen, we are excited to see it lasting for a day. The phone comes with proprietary dash charging which is capable of charging from 0 to 100 percent in just an hour. OnePlus feels that the market for wireless charging is yet to be matured and it restricts the users rather than making them free as the phone cannot be used to play games or call while charging.

OnePlus 5T comes with a very clean Oxygen OS which is based on Android 7.1.1 but OnePlus has promised an upgrade to Android 8.0 (Oreo) by next year beginning and a beta build by end of 2017.

The only disappointment here is that the phone is not waterproof or dustproof, basically, there is no IP rating, it is neither IP67 nor IP68 certified. We feel that IP certification is important in a phone ranged 30k, we even saw IP68 certification on a phone like Moto X4 in the range of 20K. check out more about IP ratings and certifications.

OnePlus phones have always been a great deal, with OnePlus 5T also following be the trend. With the latest technology, great design, improved camera and perfect build quality make OnePlus 5T a perfect budget flagship phone.
