Apple iPhone 8 Review and Pros Cons:
iPhone 8 is one of the iPhones Apple showcased before the world at the Apple September Event, 2017. iPhone 8 is built on the same design philosophy as that of the iPhones from the previous year and a year before that. So don’t complain about it being same as the previous iPhones because It’s an iPhone 8.
The Apple iPhone 8 carries the same beautiful and premium design which is not very unique in 2017 but in new pale gold color which looks different and quite frankly it's growing on me. After a long time, iPhones have said Hello to the glass back since the iPhone 4 and this time, Wireless Charging via Qi debuts on iPhones.
The display size of Apple iPhone 8 is same at 4.7 inches, with a Retina HD display at a resolution of 1334 * 750 (326 PPI). As Apple claims it, the display is slightly better than that on iPhone 7 with a wider color gamut and True Tone, of course, it supports 3D Touch. The display is brilliant with vivid colors, good brightness, and wide viewing angles, no less worthy of an iPhone display.
While the new iPhone 8 might seem same as iPhone 7 on the outside, It is entirely different on the inside. Apple boasted its new in-house designed A11 Bionic as a successor to A10 Fusion, and damn the chip knocks every other chip off the playground. A11 Bionic in iPhone 8 has a massive Antutu Benchmark Score around 214878. Putting the device leagues ahead of any other smartphone in terms of raw power. This time we have 2 Power cores and 4 Power efficient cores which are up to 70% faster than A10 Fusion, additionally, all 6 cores can run at the same time, giving a huge boost to the performance. Apple again showed firm believe in the efficiency of iOS, by coupling the new iPhone with just 2GB of RAM. The base model as always packs 64GB of onboard flash storage.
iPhones have always been best at camera performance and this new iPhone falls no short of the reputation. iPhone 8 features an improved 12MP sensor. The new sensor as Apple claims is faster and has deeper pixels. We also have Optical Image Stabilisation(OIS) for photos and videos. Portrait mode gets better with iPhone 8 and Portrait lighting debuts on the iPhone, with which you can now create studio lighting effects on your photos, that’s just way cool but still in beta, so don’t put your hopes high. On the front, we have an improved 7MP, f/2.2 sensor, great for selfies.
The new iPhone 8 comes with iOS 11, as Apple calls it, “The Most Advanced, Secure, Intuitive Mobile Operating System” but this isn’t totally the case this time around as iOS 11 still appears to be a late beta product. It certainly needs more work, especially in the battery and efficiency department. As with others, iOS 11 is beautiful, intuitive and super secure as always, more than anything you can get.
As always with iPhones, iPhone 8 doesn’t shine in the battery numbers, It has an 1821 mAh juice pack, which definitely sounds measly in the world of 4000mAh batteries. It's not as bad as it seems, iPhone 8 can readily give 4-5 hours of onscreen time, that’s just enough to go through a day. It supports fast charging capable of charging 50 percent in just 30 minutes but the sad part is that the charger bundled in the box is not a fast charger. iPhone 8 also bundles wireless charging which is possible because of the glass at the back.
iPhone 8 carries an IP67 rating, making it completely dustproof and waterproof for up to 1 meter of depth for 30 minutes. Read more about IP ratings.
Overall, Apple iPhone 8 looks stunning and comes with the premium brand and build quality. Though the Value for Money is always on a lower end with the Apple Phones, the brand quality and trust are always high. iPhone 8 captures some great improvements over iPhone 7, better processing power, better camera and new features.
