The Zenfone series has been a success because of its value for money devices but with the Zenfone 3 series, things have changed and prices have gone up. The Zenfone 3 Max launched at a price of Rs. 13999 is a similar story. The USP of this device is the massive 4130mAh battery which is expected to last for 2 days on a single charge. The build quality of the device is decent. It is made of metal and looks good. The display is a 720p HD panel which has good clarity and viewing angles but it struggles under outdoor conditions where the brightness of device is not sufficient.
The camera on the back is 13MP and on the front is 5MP. Both cameras are average and struggle under low light conditions. There is a fingerprint sensor just below the back camera and its performance is inconsistent. Sometimes it works well and sometimes it does not.
Inside we have MediaTek MT6737 with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage and this is the problem of this device. MediaTek MT6737 is an entry level chipset and is less powerful than the Snapdragon 430. The mediocre performance of the chipset means you cannot play heavy games on the device. You might see some lag while usings lots of apps together as well.
Buying Zenfone 3 Max at this price does not look a good decision. Unless you are an Asus fan, you should skip it and go for better options like Redmi Note 4, Moto G5 Plus, Lenovo P2 and Honor 6X. All of these devices perform better than the 3 Max and they cost less as well.

Zenfone 3 Max offers nothing exciting at 13k. Redmi Note 4 which is priced at 11k will provide far better performance because of excellent Snapdragon 625 processor. Unless you are an Asus fan, avoid this phone.
