Honor 10 Lite Brief Review and Pros Cons:

Honor 10 Lite comes as a successor for the Honor 9 Lite which saw a great response from users in 2018. 10 Lite comes with major upgrades in the processor and looks domain and is the first phone from Honor in 2019.

Talking about the looks, this phone is an absolute killer which comes with the 6.21-inch long display having Full HD Plus resolution and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The back of the phone is built of plastic and gives nice reflections and design pattern due to the glossy finish. Surely, It attracts some fingerprint smudges but those are visible only at some point and with a TPU case you can keep the looks intact with no smudges. The top side of the phone has sim slots and secondary microphone and the bottom houses a micro USB port for charging, speaker output, 3.5mm headphone jack, and primary noise cancellation microphone.

On the design side given the pricing, the phones gets a 9 on 10.

The waterdrop notch adds to the look and holds the front camera but if you do not like it then it can be removed from the settings. The display has a 91% screen to body ratio and with Full HD Plus resolution and offers good brightness levels and punchier colors. Playing games or watching videos on the phone will be entertaining as the color reproduction is perfect.

For the performance, Honor has used the latest Kirin 710 processor. It is an octa-core chipset with four Arm Cortex A53 cores (for day to day applications) and four Arm Cortex A73 cores (primarily to boost clock speed in graphics intensive gaming sessions). There is a 4 GB RAM and 64 GB of internal memory to support the multitasking and storage requirement. However, you get a hybrid sim slot so you can either use it as dual sim or expand the memory and use in a single sim configuration. There is also a 6GB/64GB variant but that costs around 18k (4K more than the 4GB/64 GB variant) which we feel offers less value for money until you have a high multitasking requirement.

Honor 10 lite scores around 1,38,500 on the AnTuTu Benchmark which indicates powerful multitasking capability as was reflected in our review tests. We did not face any lag during our testing and the gaming performance was also spot on with no heating or latency issues with even the high-end games.

Now coming to one of the Honor stand out the domain, the camera performance. The rear camera comes with a dual rear sensor setup having a primary 13MP sensor (f/1.8 aperture) and a dedicated 2 MP depth sensor for the portrait shots. The photos come out with pleasant color and as usual, the Honor camera apps offer some extraordinary app features and AI support which enhances the color and contrast. In the daylight shots, the photos were clean and looked appealing because of the sharpness and quality.  For the portrait shots, the edge detection worked fine and the image captures a lot of details. Honor has also added a lighting effect feature for the portrait shots.

For the selfie shots, Honor 10 lite has a 24MP Sony IMX 576 sensor with different scene recognition. Overall image look crisp but the colors were sometimes a bit out of touch but with AI enabled, the camera does a better job.  In low light, the camera does a decent job but there was noticeable noise. Also, there is no stabilization available for the video.

For the software, this phone comes with Emotion UI (EMUI 9) which is built over the latest version of Android, Android Pie (9.0). The UI has some bloatware but comes with some features that can be really helpful. Other features like Party mode is available on Honor Lite 10, using which you can connect with multiple Honor phones nearby to play the same song creating a party like atmosphere.

To get the phone to unlock, Honor has provided both fingerprint and face unlocking mechanism. Both methods are extremely responsive and accurate. The phone weighs around 160 gm and has a battery of 3400 mAh capacity. It can provide a backup of around 1 day and less if you are a heavy user.

Honor should have looked to give at least a battery capacity of 4000 mAh given the increasing use of the phone. There is a micro USB port to charge the phone. You get a standard 10W charger bundled in the box which charges the complete phone in around 2 hours as the phone does not support fast charging. Also, you do not get any IP rating or certification with this phone, so dust particles or water can harm the phone. The audio output is loud enough with decent sound quality but not something extraordinary compared to other phones in 10000 to 15000 price segment.

Overall, Honor 10 Lite is a lighter version of the Honor 10 and comes with pretty attractive design, powerful chipset, and a decent camera.

Should you buy Honor 10 Lite?

Honor 10 Lite is a decent midrange smartphone but does not offer anything stand out in the price range. It has a powerful processor and a beautiful design which makes it an attractive bet compared other dull looking smartphone in this price range but if you look for a high battery backup then this will not fit the requirement.
