Mi Mix 2 Brief Review and Pros Cons:
Xiaomi after its huge success in India over the last one year and is looking to maintain the same taste of success with many new launches and new experiments. Mi Mix 2 is the latest phone to be launched in India on 10th October and will be available exclusively on Flipkart. First sale of Mi Mix 2 will be on 17th October in India on Flipkart.
Mi Mix was the first smartphone with bezel-less display and then Apple, Google, and LG, Samsung followed the trend. Mi Mix 2 also comes with a beautiful bezel-less 5.99-inch IPS LCD display. More than 80% of the front is taken up by the IPS display, which extends to the very top of the handset. There is a very small slit at the top that holds the phone speaker. The phone has rounded sides and edges that perfectly assists in holding the phone.
Mi Mix 2 holds a 12MP rear shooter which has 4-axis optical stabilization, which clicks really good pictures but fails to impress in the low lighting conditions. It supports 4K video capture mode and comes with the same camera app with beauty modes and effects. Below the rear camera, there is a fingerprint sensor
The front camera on Mi Mix 2 is a 5MP shooter and to the huge surprise, is placed at the bottom of the front panel. The camera app, though, alerts the user to turn the phone upside down but the feature is not supported with external apps like Snapchat or Instagram. Being on this unconventional position, the front camera is a bit uncomfortable to be used.
Mi Mix 2 comes with a battery capacity of 3400mAH, that can easily last for more than a day, also the phone comes with fast charging and hence the battery backup should never be an issue. It has a fingerprint sensor at the back and performs without any hiccups. The phone is powered by Snapdragon 835 processor, which is one of the powerful processors with an antutu benchmark score of more than 1,80,000.
Mi Mix 2 comes with 6GB of internal RAM and 128GB of internal memory. Multitasking or any heavy operation can never be an issue with 6GB of RAM, while the phone does not support microSD card but we believe 128GB of internal memory should be sufficient for most of the users.
The most disappointing thing with Mi Mix 2 is that the phone does not have a headphone jack. You have to use Bluetooth or the Type C port to listen to music.
The powerful Snapdragon 835 with plenty of RAM makes everyday usage super smooth. Gaming on the Mi Mix 2 is excellent as well. The bezel-less display makes it more enjoyable. Mi Mix 2 is a great option for heavy gamers as well.
Mi Mix 2 runs on MIUI 9 which is a skin based on Android 7.1. MIUI performs well but still, it is nowhere near stock android. If you like stock android then using a launcher or installing a custom ROM will be your option.
Overall, Mi Mix 2 is a great phone and is bound to perform really well. The build quality, ceramic body, bezel-less display are all very attractive. The phone only upset over the unconventional placement of the front camera and the other is the removal of the headphone jack.
