Realme 3 Pro 6GB Brief Review and Pros Cons:

The Redmi Note series has always been the midrange budget smartphone killer pretty much forever. Companies like Samsung and Realme are trying hard to beat Redmi at their own game. Samsung M20 and Realme 2 Pro have clocked good sales numbers in last few months and Realme has now launched the successor of Realme 2 Pro: Realme 3 Pro. The phone comes with the powerful midrange Snapdragon 710 processor, 16MP flagship camera sensor, big battery, and VOOC fast charging. Let's dive into the details of what Realme 3 Pro offers and should you buy it?

2019 is the year of surprise, especially for budget smartphones. Till date, the only phones that were a glass and glass design were flagship phones. Redmi changed this by using Gorilla Glass 6 on the front and 5 on the back this year. Realme 3 Pro also comes with Gorilla Glass 5 on the front reflective gradient design on the back which looks gorgeous. The power button is on the right, volume rockers on the left with a dual sim and MicroSD slot. Finally, the headphone jack, primary microphone, micro USB port sadly and the speaker grill reside at the bottom. There is a fingerprint scanner at the back of the phone slightly above the mid-section of the phone for biometric authentication. All in all, Realme has completely nailed it with the design language the only gripe is the presence of a MicroUSB port instead of a Type C one. But the port is all not that bad as it comes with a feature to make up for its Type C absence will get on that later on in the battery section.

We have said this once and we’ll say it again that the display of any smartphone is the prime user interface. Thankfully Realme 3 pro come with a great display. With a 90.8% screen to body ratio and a huge 6.3-inch dew-drop notch LCD display topping at FHD+ 2340x1080 pixels making it a great media consumption device. Not only this but the display also gets pretty bright at a peak of 400 nits while some of the competition reaches only about 350 nits. Colors are natural and vivid Realme has done a pretty good job this time around.

Now, battery life is probably the 2nd most important feature on this phone. The first being the processor, more on that later. This is because Realme has packed a massive 4045 mAh battery which will easily give you a one plus day of backup. Not only did Realme stop here but also enabled it with their trademark VOOC charge 3.0. what does that mean now? Well in plain terms VOOC 3.0 output 5V at 4A delivering a massive 20W of charge. This coupled with the AI capabilities of the phone tops up the Realme 3 pro up to 50% on just 30 minutes. The lack of the Type C port is thus somewhat made up with this. The better new the VOOC charger comes bundled in the box. Good job Realme, please keep this up in the future too.

Realme has really learned from the mistakes of its past with the camera department that is from the Realme 3. This time around they focused on giving users not only better camera sensors but also software gimmicks that are actually useful. The rear cameras are a marriage of a 16MP F1.7 IMX519 primary shooter from Sony coupled with a 5MP F2.4 depth shooter. The interesting thing about this camera is that OnePlus 6T is also using the same 16MP camera sensor. This results in great pictures as the primary lens use pixel binning technology giving the users massive 1.22-micrometer large pixels. Users can now shoot 64MP UHD photos with the help of this. Pictures taken from the rear camera definitely come out clear and vivid. The low aperture of F1.7 also allows for better low light shooting too. The front camera is no slouch either. It’s a 25MP F2.0 shooter and it does its job considering the price range of the phone. Selfies will definitely be detailed and rich due to the higher megapixel count.

Remember when we said that the battery is the 2nd most important feature as the 1st place is taken up by the processor. The Realme 3 pro has the Snapdragon 710 at its heart running the whole show. This is the very first time any phone under the 15K price range has used the 710. The Snapdragon 710 has is an octa-core processor that has 2 A-75’s and 6 A-55’s. Running at 2.2 GHz and based on the 10nm architecture this is not only a powerful processor but also a power efficient one. Realme has even gone ahead and optimized the Realme 3 pro for games like PUBG, Rules of Survival and Asphalt 9. This is done by taking advantage of the very powerful GPU the Adreno 616 that lies embedded in the 710. Day to day task is a breeze and games can be played at the highest settings to. This is also partially due to the use of Hyperboost 2.0 which color OS brings to the table which optimizes game stability by 38%. This smartphone scores around 150000 on the AnTuTu benchmark.

Staying on software fronts of performance Realme 3 pro comes with Android 9 Pie on top of ColorOS 6.0. Now color OS is definitely not the best custom OS for phones out there. There are too many animations that clutter on the performance of the Snapdragon 710. Maybe when in the future of at all if ColorOS 7 is able to streamline animations the full potential of the 710 is released.

Overall the phone is quite zippy due to the higher clock speed of the 710 and the presence of a monster GPU in the form of the Adreno 616. All in all, this is definitely a great daily driver material and a good gaming phone as well.

Now to sum things up there are only a few points to be bough to the limelight. The package that Realme has provided here is simply mind-blowing especially for the price that the phone is being offered for. The 4GB 64GB variant of the phone comes for Rs.13999 while the 6GB 64GB is priced at 15999 and the 6GB.128 variant comes for Rs 16999. The only eyesore feature would probably be the use of a micro USB port instead of a Type C one. However, it makes up with the inclusion of VOOC fast charging. But considering the fact, the amount of tech Realme has packed this actually in a really long time gives the Redmi Note especially the Note 7 Pro a huge run for its money. Realme 3 Pro does not have an IP rating which is something no one can expect from a phone under 15000 but the phone is splash proof. Realme 3 Pro is a solid performer and deserves a spot on our list of best camera phones under 15k.
