Samsung On Max and J7 Max are the exact same phones with a slightly different chipset. On Max has Helio P25 and J7 Max has Helio P20. On Max is slightly more powerful. Samsung has done that to keep On Max Flipkart exclusive and the J7 Max is available on other website and offline as well. If you are buying online go for On Max as it will cost you 1000 less.
Samsung is not known for value for money phones but the Samsung J7 Max is little different. The phone has a metal build which feels strong and looks good. The display on the front of Samsung J7 Max is a large 5.7 inch Full HD display with good colors and viewing angles. The display is covered with a 2.5D glass which gives it a premium look.
Above the display, there is a 13MP front camera with flash. Selfie lovers will love this combination of a high-resolution camera with a flash for low light conditions. Below the display, we have a fingerprint sensor which is quick and accurate. On the back of J7 Max, we have a 13MP camera with larger pixels for low light conditions. The performance of both front and back cameras is decent.
Inside the Samsung J7 Max, we have MediaTek P20 processor with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. Samsung has gone with MediaTek instead of or Snapdragon or its own Exynos to keep the cost low. The P20 is a decent chipset with performance similar to Snapdragon 435 but it is not that power efficient. With a large display and a MediaTek chipset, the 3300mAh battery, the J7 Max will last a day with moderate usage. A battery size of 4000mAh would have been a better choice by Samsung.
Overall the Samsung J7 Max is a well-balanced device and is a good option for those who love Samsung brand. If you don't have any problems with other brands then Motorola G5 Plus is a good option which provides equally good camera and better overall performance because of a better chipset. If front and back camera is not your top priority and you want to save some money then take a look at devices like Redmi Note 4 and Lenovo P2.
