Samsung S9 Plus Brief Review and Pros Cons:

As it has been for the past couple of years, the Samsung Galaxy S9 is not the lone warrior Samsung unleashed before the world. The plus model, aimed at people who love big smartphones is named Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus. Same as Galaxy S9, the S9+ is not monumentally different from last years S8+. The device looks identical to S8+ with a few minor changes.

S9+ just like the S9 refines the best phone Samsung has ever made and takes it all the way further. It follows the same glass sandwich design with metal unibody and glass encasing. The brilliant infinity display is the one and the only thing on the front, which is 6.2-inch diagonally, Super AMOLED display with a breathtaking resolution of 1440 x 2960 pixels at 18.5:9 aspect ratio (~529 PPI).

We don’t need to tell you what infinity display looks like, Its one of the best displays out there, probably the best on a smartphone if you can take a little over saturation of colors. The display topples iPhone X display to rank the best display. It is HDR10 compliant and with everything rest aside, in a nutshell, the display is the best in the market.

The Galaxy S9 Plus is not much different when it comes to performance from its smaller brother. The device is also based on Qualcomm Snapdragon 845/Exynos 9810 and is what you expect from every flagship in 2018. Where it is different from S9 is that S9+ plus gets high on RAM this time around, with 6GB RAM compared to 4GB on the S9. The tear through all your graphics workloads, Adreno 630 is onboard.

The device comes in two versions with 64/256GB of onboard storage which is also expandable up to 400GB using MicroSD. The slot is hybrid though so you cannot use 2 sim cards and a MicroSD at the same time.

Samsung is very proud of the cameras on the Galaxy S9 and S9+. This time around, Samsung has decided to create more distinction between S9+ and S9 by including a dual camera setup on the S9+ while S9 has to go with a single camera setup. Both the primary cameras on the devices are identical with variable aperture - the first in a smartphone. The primary sensor is a 12MP, f/1.5 + f/2.4 variable aperture sensor while the other one is also a 12MP, f/2.4 wide-angle sensor for depth information.

The smartphone retains the same 8MP f/1.7 sensor on the front as in case of last year’s Galaxy S8+. Galaxy S9+ also catches up to iPhone X with super slow-mo video capabilities which enable the smartphone to record at 960fps.

Samsung Galaxy S9+ similar to Galaxy S9 runs on Android Oreo, tweaked a lot by Samsung. The software is fast and responsive but carries a boatload of bloatware and redundant apps by Samsung. The UI is minimal and pleasing to the eyes.

The Galaxy S9+ is IP68 certified same as Galaxy S9 - so you can take it out in rain or close to a pool.

Finally, Samsung has put stereo speakers in a Galaxy smartphone, up front. It keeps the headphone jack, which is certainly rare in 2018. The battery is a 3500mAh one which is not enough for a 6.2-inch smartphone in 2018. It will pull off the day if you are an average user, otherwise, do keep a charger around. Talking about charging, Fast charging is available along with wireless charging on the Galaxy S9+. Samsung also sells a wireless charger which made it to our list of best wireless chargers of 2019.
