Oppo F5 is the next mid-range smartphone to be launched in India by Oppo in the F series. This phone is available for pre-order from Flipkart and will go on open sale from 8th November 2017.
The latest phones in the mid-range segment have seen a bezel-less display and Oppo F5 is being seen following the trend. It comes with a 6-inch Full HD+, bezel-less display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 called full-view display. The screen has thin borders and the back is curved along the edges making it comfortable to hold. With the power and volumes button well within reach, the ergonomics of Oppo F5 stands perfectly.
Oppo F5 is powered by an Octa-Core MediaTek MT6763T processor. The Antutu score is about 64000 equivalent to as seen in Honor 9i. The phone comes with a 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory. We might also see a 6GB/64GB model launched by Oppo.
Coming to the camera performance of the Oppo F5, the primary camera is a 16 MP sensor with LED flash, though the image quality was crisp, a lot of competitor phones have come up with a dual rear camera, and not holding a dual camera could be somewhat negative for the Oppo. While the unique selling point of Oppo F5 is the front camera, where it holds a 20 MP sensor and the company claims that its AI-powered camera software can recognize your facial features to click the best photo. Oppo F5 also has a portrait mode to add bokeh effects to the selfies and the initial impression of the camera are impressive. The handset, though, does not support 4K video recording.

The gaming performance of Oppo F5 is smooth and no lag or heating issues were observed during our initial testing. It runs Android 7.1(Nougat) with ColorOS V3.2 on top which allows using two apps side by side. Its supports a battery of 3200mAH which will last just more than a day in case of normal usage. We believe the reason behind this battery size is to keep phone light in weight with Oppo F5 weighing 152gm with 7.5mm of thickness.
Also, the phone supports dual sim (Nano + Nano) with dedicated micro SD card slot expandable up to 256GB. The fingerprint sensor on the back is of little oval shape and works very smoothly. However, the phone comes with micro USB and not the Type C.
The Overall performance of Oppo F5 is up to the mark and sleek and slim design makes it look attractive but we still feel that its a little overpriced considering Honor 9i and back and upcoming Honor 7X. The selfie lover and Oppo fans might just overlook the price. You can buy Oppo F5 from offline retail outlets or from Flipkart.
Honor 9i has dual camera setup on both front and back, has a bezel-less display and is available at less cost than Oppo F5. As of date, we think it might be just the perfect phone for you. Read full review of Honor 9i here.
